Pat and Jeans Place
A little introduction to Pat and Jeans Place for those who don't know. Pat and Jeans Place is working on a circular economy approach of textiles, to address the huge problem we have of excessive textiles in Australia and Globally going to land fill, causing environmental catastrophe around the world. We have various ways to address this with textiles that reduce landfill and reduce our use of plastics. We do this with; Eco Party Decorations/ Table Hire, from handmade or pre-loved sanitised textiles and toys, Birthday/ name banners and craft for your party or workshop. Our educational workshops give a little education on where our textile waste goes, how we need to think about our purchases and little ways we can reuse textiles for practical use.
Reducing plastic on my food, is not just an environmental concern but an important part of my own health. This is particularly close to me with two close friends having survived brain and breast cancer and my auntie, Pat, and mum, Jean, who both died from cancer.
The Beeswax Food Wraps we make in one of our craft workshops is a fantastic way to cut out the use of cling wrap in your kitchen, fridge and on snacks and sandwiches in your lunch box.
Please see the website for upcoming events and new things in the shop.

A Bit About Me: Sarah
My own background has been working in the fashion industry as a Fashion Designer, Production Co-ordinator, Quality Assurance and Compliance for over 25 years. I have also launched a certified organic cotton knitwear range called Classic Baby Organics (formerly Viddia) for baby to 4 to 6 year olds. The launching of this brand was the time I started to ask myself what do I want my brand to stand for. This is when I started to question my values and the importance of a brand that is not only caring for environment with natural materials but also helping the farmers to be sustainable and the upmost care for all adult workers that are being given current, living fair wage and hours. This is why I chose Global Organic Textile Standard (G.O.T.S) Certification for the highest certification in organic cotton, fair labour, working conditions and all waters cleaned before returning to the rivers.
As I looked and learned more about the affects on the planet of the fashion industry and the excessive consumption of 'super fast fashion', compared to 20 years ago, the more I was questioning what can I do that makes a positive difference. With Pat and Jeans Place, it is a start to addressing all things circular and sustainable with recycled textile workshops to teenager/ tween fashion design, upcycling courses, to beautiful hand-made in Australia (or pre-loved) party decoration hire and craft events at your next party.
The workshops are also a fun creative way to make and learn with a little education on the textile crisis. With the new generation more concerned about the environment then ever before, there are many young adults changing their buying habits, including my 23 and 15 year old daughters. I am positive the way that the fashion industry currently works will change. If you would like the party hire decorations, or craft event at your next party or group, please email to hello@patandjeansplace.com. (Please note the vegetarian catering option we be coming soon too. :))
